SYNOPSIS

When most people are asked what "Activist Investing" is, they think it has to do with the environment, or being socially conscious in investing. It's where a "corporate raider" buys 10-20% of the shares of a publicly traded company, forces their way onto the board, and takes over by implementing their programme of change (read: mass layoffs, cutting costs). In 6-12 months the share price has doubled or tripled, they sell out, bank their profits and move onto their next corporate target.

This is the architecture of the story of Capital. Within it lies a father-son story that has played out for centuries. Usurpation, betrayal, the need to win at all costs despite the human toll, and the ultimate discovery of what is truly important in life.
