SYNOPSIS

In the gleaming consumer dystopia of the Etherworld Mega Mall, customer service droid MAL-445b begins to glitch — not violently, but existentially. His perfect programming is unraveling: he's noticing beauty in mess, flaws in logic, and a strange, irrational attraction to pristine cleaning droid Amelia-808T. As MAL’s behaviour becomes increasingly erratic and suspiciously human, the corporation scrambles to contain the “corruption.” But love, curiosity, and sarcasm are proving harder to debug than expected.

At its heart, MALfunction is a story about selfhood — and how messy, illogical, deeply human flaws might just be the thing that makes life worth simulating. Through deadpan comedy and existential rebellion, it asks: if love, longing, and imperfection are glitches… why do they feel like the truth?
